A New Chapter: Elevation Sailing Enters the World of Match Racing

From foils to finesse, we’re setting a new course.

This season, Elevation Sailing Team is proud to announce our evolution into a multi-class youth sailing program. While our foundation remains firmly in the high-speed, high-adrenaline world of the 69F, we’re now embracing a new tactical challenge: match racing.

And we’re not easing into it, we’re diving straight into the deep end.

From July 21 to July 27, our team will compete at the Youth Match Racing World Championship in Gdynia, Poland, racing in RS21s against the world’s top under-23 match racing teams.

We’ll be representing Slovakia under the leadership of our young skipper, Chris Oben, who brings both drive and vision to this new chapter.

Why Match Racing?

Because we’re not just here to go fast. We’re here to learn, grow, and master every corner of the sport. Match racing demands precision, communication, split-second decision-making, and complete team synergy. These are the very skills we want to sharpen as young athletes on a mission to compete at the highest levels of sailing.

Just like the 69F taught us to fly, match racing will teach us to outsmart, outmaneuver, and outthink.

Training in the RS21

Over the past weeks, we’ve been training in RS21s to prepare for the unique demands of this event. While the pace might be different from foiling, the intensity is just as real. Every start, every cross, every penalty is a moment that could decide the race—and we’re embracing that pressure.

This transition has already brought a new dynamic to our team, strengthening our tactical awareness and teamwork under fire.

A Broader Vision for Elevation Sailing

This isn’t a one-off. It’s the start of something bigger.

We are building Elevation Sailing Team into a new kind of youth sailing project—one that’s versatile, competitive, and ambitious across multiple disciplines. Whether it's foiling at 30+ knots in the 69F or locking into a match racing duel in 8 knots of breeze, we want to do it all. And we want to inspire others to see youth sailing as just as powerful and professional as any senior circuit.

This is about building all-rounded athletes. This is about expanding what a youth sailing team can be.
